The Setting

Situated in Ossuccio, Villa Balbiano is the largest private residence on Lake Como. Originally built at the end of the 16th century for Cardinal Tolomeo Gallio, the estate was later enhanced by Cardinal Angelo Maria Durini to host grand festivals and banquets. Today, the palazzo maintains its illustrious heritage, featuring 17th-century frescoes by the Recchi brothers and Agostino Silva, alongside a museum-worthy collection of antiques and fine furniture sourced from Sotheby’s and Christie’s.

The estate occupies over two hectares of land, including an award-winning Italian garden distinguished by the British Society of Garden Designers. For weddings and events, the property offers a fairytale backdrop with views across the water to the distant mountains. Guests can enjoy exclusive access to a private pier, a boathouse, and an outdoor swimming pool, all located within a short forty-minute drive from the centre of Milan.

Accommodation is provided within the main palazzo, comprising six luxurious suites individually designed by Jacques Garcia. These suites feature opulent marble bathrooms and individual styling that blends historic elegance with modern luxury. The venue supports a variety of celebrations, from intimate elopements to large-scale destination weddings, offering unique experiences such as private chef services and lake tours via boat or seaplane.
