Wedding Aliens’ data collection and use policy regarding users of the site is set out in this policy. Wedding Aliens reserves the right to modify this policy as appropriate; please note the date of the most recent revision shown above. This Privacy Policy does not cover privacy provisions for sites linked to from weddingaliens.com.

The term “personally identifiable information” (PII) means any information that can be used to identify or contact a specific individual, such as a name, address, telephone number or email address.

The term “aggregate information” means information that does not allow us to identify or contact a specific individual but describes a general category of information about visitors to the site, such as demographics, visited categories (e.g. venues), or visitors using a particular browser to access the site.

The term “cookies” means small data files placed on your device by a website so that the site can personalise the experience and track site usage.

The PII we collect is information you voluntarily submit through our inquiry, contact and Second Vow forms with listed venues and vendors. This information includes names, phone numbers, wedding locations and dates, guest counts, budget ranges, business names, email addresses and your message, along with the listings you shortlisted.

This data may be used to contact users who have submitted information and to provide attribution for materials or information submitted and used on weddingaliens.com. Last names, phone numbers and email addresses of users submitting material to our site will not be published.

Wedding Aliens will offer users opportunities to participate in surveys and options to sign up to our mailing lists to receive specific information. We will provide only that information when responding to those requests. We will of course comply with any legal requests for release of information.

Your shortlist is stored locally in your browser and is not sent to us until you submit an inquiry.

To pass your inquiry to the venues and vendors you selected, and to keep a copy so we can follow up and help.

To publish and manage Second Vow listings you submit, and to reply to messages sent through the contact form.

To understand which destinations and listings are useful, so we can improve the directory.

Venues and vendors you inquire about. When you submit an inquiry, the details in that inquiry are sent to the specific listings you shortlisted so they can reply to you directly. We do not sell your data or share it with listings you did not select.

Service providers who run the platform on our behalf: hosting and database infrastructure, email delivery, and analytics. They process data under contract and only as instructed.

Authorities, where we are legally required to disclose information.

We track the aggregate usage of weddingaliens.com. This data may include, but is not limited to, your web browser, which website you visited before opening weddingaliens.com and the website you link to as you leave our site. We also track which pages within the site you visit and how long you spend on each page.

This information allows us to see which pages are the most valuable and interesting to our users and enables us to provide a richer and more useful experience. This aggregate information does not contain any information that can be used to personally identify a specific individual.

The Wedding Aliens site uses cookies and local storage to keep track of your session and to remember your shortlist. Wedding Aliens may also use cookies to deliver content specific to your interests.

We may also include web beacons in promotional email messages or newsletters to determine whether messages have been opened and acted upon. The information we obtain in this manner enables us to customise the services we offer, and to measure the overall effectiveness of our content and other activities.

We may allow third parties, including our authorised service providers and analytics companies, to use tracking technologies such as cookies to collect information about users who view or interact with our properties. Our properties do not provide any personal information to these third parties.

Where third-party advertising companies are used, they may use aggregated information (not including your name, address, email address or telephone number) about your visits to this and other websites to provide advertisements about goods and services of interest to you. You can clear or block cookies in your browser, though the shortlist will stop persisting between visits.

Location technology may need to be enabled in Wedding Aliens products and services in order to determine the approximate location of users, so that we can show nearby venues, vendors and destinations. This information is transmitted to Wedding Aliens and temporarily stored by Wedding Aliens. Wedding Aliens does not provide this information to any other third party.

We process inquiry and contact data to perform the service you requested and on the basis of our legitimate interest in operating the directory. Analytics and non-essential cookies are used only with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

Inquiries and contact messages are retained for up to 36 months so we can support you through planning and resolve disputes. Second Vow listings are retained while active and for 12 months after removal. Aggregated analytics may be retained indefinitely in a form that does not identify you.

You can ask us to access, correct, delete or export your data, restrict or object to processing, or withdraw consent. Email info@weddingaliens.com and we will respond within 30 days.

Data is stored on managed infrastructure with encryption in transit and access restricted to the people who need it. Some providers may process data outside your country; where that happens we rely on standard contractual clauses or equivalent safeguards. No online service can promise absolute security.

The privacy and protection of children is very important to us. With this in mind, we do not allow children under the age of 16 to submit information to our site. Should we become aware that someone under the age of 16 has supplied information to us, all of that information will be deleted.
