Weddings in Cyprus

Sun on limestone, 320 days a year

Cyprus is the most forgiving island in the Mediterranean for a wedding: warm from April to November, small enough to move a hundred guests from a mountain chapel to a beach dinner in an afternoon, and cheap enough that the budget stretches to the good wine. Paphos and Limassol carry the resort infrastructure, Ayia Napa the beach clubs, and the Troodos foothills the stone-village romance.

Beach dinner, mountain ceremony

The classic Cyprus day pairs a whitewashed chapel or garden ceremony with a long table on the sand at sunset. Ask about wind — the Paphos coast can gust after 6pm in spring.

Budget reality

Per-head catering in Cyprus typically lands well below Italy or France for the same standard, which is why so many 150+ guest weddings end up here.

Best months
April – June and September – early November. July and August are hot and fully booked.
Legal & paperwork
Civil ceremonies are genuinely straightforward for non-residents — most municipalities can marry you with about 15 days' notice, and the certificate is recognised across the EU and UK. Many venues handle the paperwork with the local town hall on your behalf.
Getting there
Larnaca (LCA) and Paphos (PFO) both take direct flights from most of Europe. Nowhere on the island is more than a 90-minute drive from an airport.

Questions

Getting married in Cyprus

How much does a wedding in Cyprus cost?
For 100 guests at a good standard, most couples in our network land between roughly €25,000 and €55,000 including venue hire, catering, photography, flowers and music. Catering is typically €65–€130 per head. Use the estimator on this page to model your own guest count and month.
Is a Cyprus civil wedding legally recognised in the UK and EU?
Yes. A civil ceremony performed by a Cypriot municipality is a legal marriage recognised across the EU and the UK. You receive an official marriage certificate; an apostille is available if your home country asks for one.
How far in advance should we book?
Twelve to eighteen months for a May, June, September or October Saturday. Peak July and August dates at the well-known beach venues often go two years out, while midweek dates open up much later.
When is the best time of year to marry in Cyprus?
April to June and September to early November. July and August are reliably hot (35°C+) and busiest; December to March is mild but unpredictable for outdoor dinners.
Do we need a wedding planner in Cyprus?
Not always. Larger resort venues include a coordinator, so a planner is optional if you are marrying at one venue. A planner earns their fee when you are combining a village chapel, a separate dinner venue and guest transport — budget 8–12% of total spend.
